Short Description

The Postgraduate Course in Periodontology enables dentists with an interest in periodontology to pursue a postgraduate training on an academic basis that gives ample consideration to theory and practice. With this postgraduate course, we follow the international trend towards postgraduate specialisation in the various subfields of dentistry.

The objective of the course is to impart specialised knowledge and skills relevant to periodontology in theory and practice.

This degree is recognised by the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Paradontologie (ÖGP)

The “Master of Science in Periodontology” course is organised in coordination with the Österreichische Gesellschaft für Paradontologie (ÖGP) and the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Periodontology of the University Clinic of Dentistry Vienna, in order to ensure recognition of the graduates as “SpezialistIn für Parodontologie der ÖGP“.


  • approval as medical specialists in dentistry (Facharztprüfung) or
  • completion of a master’s degree in dentistry or equivalent
  • knowledge of English permitting the use of specialist literature and the comprehension of subject-specific lectures (Min. level B2)
  • computer skills that permit the use of a teaching and learning platform as well as the use of specialist literature databases (ECDL Core)
